LITTLE JESS™
Dianella caerulea 'DCMP01'
Best Erosion Control Plants
Little Jess is an ideal erosion control, low maintenance plant. This is because it has an incredible dense and fibourous root system that binds the soil. Little Jess has proven that it can survive on natural rainfall, this means it requires no irrigation once established.
There are other extraordinary exotic plants that bind soil which are excellent erosion control plants. Unlike these, Little Jess is an Australian plant. It is a much more compact and dense form of Dianella Caerulea and is far better at binding the soil than the common form. Best of all, it has been planted in areas for 7 years and have never needed trimming which saves a lot of money.
- Little Jess has a dense and fibourous root and rhyzome system that binds the soil.
- Little Jess can tolerate occasional flooding and periodic wet feet.
- Little Jess can be grown almost anywhere: it can tolerate irrigation, no irrigation, high fertiliser rates, low fertiliser rates, clay type soils, sandy soils.

This site (above) was flooded and water covered Little Jess. Other plants failed while Little Jess held the soil together throughout the flood. Little Jess can tolerate ocassional flooding and periodic wet feet if the soil is not always wet.
Little Jess can be grown almost anywhere, it copes with irrigation, no irrigation once established, high fertiliser rates, low fertiliser rates, sandy soils and clay type soils. Little Jess is a generally safe plant for engineers to use. As with most low irrigation plants, Little Jess takes about 18 months to bind the soil, so temporary erosion control is required until they are established unless Instant Border® is used (below).
