Viro-Cell & Viro Tube Concepts
Main Concept
The main concept of the Viro-Cell and Viro-Tube is to promote downward root growth. Below you will notice how both the Viro-Cell (left) and the Viro-Tube (right) promote downward root growth.
As the roots reach the sides of the cell they grow to the corner, and at this point they are forced to grow down.The roots then grow down until they reach the bottom of the cell. At this point the roots reach air, and this is where they stop growing. Because there is no lip at the bottom of the cell or tube, they cannot spiral.
Beware: most so called root pruning cells have a lip and therefore do not prune correctly.
Viro-Cells and Viro-Tubes do not have a lip. So when grasses or wetland plants or other fibrous root plants are involved, play it safe and use Viro-Cell's or Viro-Tube's.
Trees & shrubs can also utilise the benifits of Viro-Tubes. Notice how the tap root on the Viro-Tube grows straight down, whilst the root on the flat bottom tube spirals.
Older more advanced Viro-Cells still have a great downward root growth (such as the one on the right). This is important for when a project gets delayed, which unfortunately happens more times than not.
Viro-Cells and Viro-Tubes last twice as long as conventional cells and tubes.
On the left are two old tubes. The Viro-Tube is still plantable as the roots are still pointing down, ready to grow where the water is, down deep.
The flat bottom tube on the right has spiralling roots, which will never really take properly.
