Description: Velvet Sky™ Metrosideros has amazing inky blue stems and beautiful blue velvet foliage, it almost appears as though this Metrosideros has been dyed blue!

It has an excellent compact form and its dense growth habit makes it an excellent choice for hedging.

It produces stunning red flowers that contrast beautifully with its blue foliage, and it will make a real statement as a hedging plant.

Plant in lightly shaded areas for even more vibrant inky blue stems.

Size: 2-4m high x 1-3m wide, in cooler climates can be smaller.

Planting Density: 1 plant per 1-5m², or 1 plant per 0.5-2 linear metres.

Uses: Great as a hedge or small screen, or as a specimen plan.

Position: Tolerates most soil types, full sun to light shade, salt spray tolerant, avoid wet feet. Light to moderate frost tolerance and moderate drought tolerance once established.

For more vibrant blue, grow in light shade and give good care.

Care: Water for 8–13 weeks as required until established. Plant in a well mulched garden (chunky mulch is recommended). Fertilise yearly with slow release fertiliser.

Can be left unpruned for a natural hedge, or prune once per year for a tidier hedge. For more vibrant blue give good care.

Where it works:  Sth QLD, Nothern NSW, SYD/Central NSW, Southern NSW, VIC, SA, WA. Further testing required for Nth QLD. Protect from frost in cooler climates.
