Cenchrus purpurascens ‘PAV300’ PBR Trade Name Pennstripe™
Formerly known as Pennstripe™ Pennisetum alopecuroides ‘PAV300’. Note: This name change may help stop confusion between Pennisetum setaceus (C. setaceus), the exotic weedy fountain grass, and the local native Cenchrus purpurascens.

Description: Pennstripe™ Cenchrus is a beautiful contrasting landscape plant with feathery plumes that compliment its fine foliage nicely. It grows to 2/5 the size of its common form.
NOTE: Do not get this native Australian Cenchrus purpurascens confused with the invasive African variety (P. setaceum).
The native Australian varieties have a much wider plume than the exotic variety, and are non-invasive making them a safer choice. So far this variety has not produced viable seed.
Size: 450mm high x 450mm wide.
Planting Density: 4-10 plants per m², 2-4 plants per linear metre.
Uses: Mass plantings and specimen planting for borders, rockeries, roadsides, commercial and residential use.
Position: Full sun to part shade. Pennstripe™ Cenchrus suits sandy to heavy clay soils. Tolerates frost, humidity and drought.
Care: Water as required for 8-13 weeks until established. Plant in a well mulched garden (chunky mulch is recommended).
Use slow release fertiliser in late winter. Trim back annually to 1/3 the size in late autumn to winter.
