Chrysocephalum ‘CAP07’ PBR Intended Trade Name Aussie Reflection™

  • Yellow buttons that live when others don’t.
  • Stolons spread and help it bounce back from stress
  • Survives drought, frost and flooding.

Most wildflowers are lucky to live a couple of years, but Aussie Reflection™ Chrysocephalum is a complete game-changer.

Unlike most yellow buttons, this variety uses stolons and rhizomes to cover more ground.

Because of this spreading nature with additional root mass, it’s much more likely to bounce back after drought, frost and flooding than most forms.

It’s a native wildflower that actually survives more than four or five years through tough conditions on the east coast, which is very unusual as most live fast and die young.

  • Size: 200mm H foliage, 350mmm H flowers. 500+mm W.
  • Planting Density: 3-6 per sq m or 4 per linear metre.
  • Uses: Native ground cover, biodiversity support, retaining walls, containers, low line-of-sight areas, green roofs, rockeries. Supports warm, passionate colour palettes.
  • Species: Chrysocephalum apiculatum
  • Position: Full sun to light shade. Tolerant of heat, frost and drought. Will bounce back from periodic flooding, but avoid sustained wet feet.
  • Care: Reshoots from suckers in harsh times like heavy frost & drought and wet. Prune older foliage back as new shoots emerge. Fungicide helps but is not essential if extreme wet summer weather persists. Optionally trim spent flowers over summer for a more beautiful display. For Growers, as these are generally irrigated in pots each day, if summer wet weather is prolonged,  a fungicide will keep the foliage clean in well fertilised pots.
  • Where It works: NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS, SA, WA, QLD
  • Flowers: Vibrant yellow flowers for most of the year feed native pollinators, while seeds feed other beneficial insects and more.
