Pink Curl™ Grevillea
Grevillea lavandulacea ‘PAB01’ PBR Intended Trade Name Pink Curl™
- Vivid pink, curly flowers blooming through the cooler months
- Greater tolerance to humidity compared with other forms
- Flatter, easy-care foliage for a neat groundcover effect
- Improved performance in heavier soils
Grevillea Pink Curl™ is a low-growing, resilient evergreen groundcover with dense, textural foliage that creates a natural, carpet-like effect in the garden.
Unlike more upright forms, this variety hugs the ground, growing just 30–40 cm tall while spreading up to 1 metre wide. Its fresh green foliage, with narrow, linear to elliptic leaves and rolled-under edges, contrasts beautifully with broader-leaved plants. The darker green colour also gives it a more ornamental appearance compared with the usual grey-green tones of the species.
From late winter through spring, it produces masses of vivid pink, spider-like flowers in stunning profusion. These blooms provide a striking display against the foliage and attract pollinators such as bees and birds, bringing extra life and movement into the landscape.
- Size: 300mm H. 1000mm W.
- Planting Density: 1 to 3 per square metre, 1 to 2 per linear metre.
- Uses: This hardy groundcover is highly versatile in the landscape. It is ideal for defining borders along paths, driveways, and garden beds, and works equally well in biodiversity gardens where it supports pollinators and small wildlife. Its compact, spreading habit makes it suitable for containers, mass or group plantings, and mixed designs where it can provide both texture and colour. With its profusion of pink flowers and neat foliage, it also performs beautifully as a feature plant in small or large gardens.
- Species: Grevillea lavandulacea
- Position: Best grown in full sun to light shade, this variety thrives in a wide range of garden conditions. Its low, spreading habit makes it an excellent choice for open spaces where it can receive plenty of light, while still performing well in partially shaded areas.
- Care: This variety is easy to maintain and can be left to grow naturally, or pruned every few years to improve density or control its size. For best results, always use a native fertiliser that is low in phosphorus, either during establishment or to rejuvenate growth. Water well during the establishment phase to ensure strong root development. Once settled, it is hardy and low maintenance, making it an excellent choice for a wide range of garden conditions.
- Where It works: NSW, VIC, SA, WA, TAS, ACT (more testing required).
- Flowers: From late winter through spring, this variety produces masses of vivid pink, spider-like flowers that create a striking display against the fresh green foliage. Flowering in abundance, it not only enhances the garden with vibrant seasonal colour but also attracts bees and birds, adding movement and biodiversity to the landscape.
