Description: Cassa Blue® Dianella is the perfect size and compact shape for any commercial or residential garden. It has stunning blue foliage and masses of purple and yellow flowers from September to November.

Size: 50cm high x 40cm wide.

Planting Density: 4-8 plants per m², 2-4 plants per linear metre.

Uses: Mass planting or specimen planting. For north of Sydney and QLD Cassa Blue® Dianella is not recommended for mass planting, only for maintained gardens with good free draining soil.

Position: Full sun to partial shade. Tolerates drought and cold. Prefers well drained soils, dryer soils needed for Sydney. Avoid very poor soils

Care: Water as required for 8-13 weeks until established. Plant in a well mulched garden (chunky mulch is recommended). Ensure crown or base of the Cassa Blue® plant is not below soil or mulch level. If required use slow release fertiliser in spring. Remove older leaves as required or cut back halfway every 3-5 years (will look better with pruning every 3 years, this depends on your requirements).

Where it works: ACT, VIC, SA, WA, TAS, NSW (north of Sydney only for maintained gardens) & QLD (only for maintained gardens).

Flowers
Cassa Blue® Dianella has beautiful foliage and great flowers. Its mass of baby blue flowers grow to about 55cm in height.

Stunning Foliage
This tough, drought and frost tolerant Dianella caerulea’s foliage grows to approximately 40cm tall with a spread of 40 cm. Its form is more of a clumping Dianella caerulea rather than spreading. Its stunning blue foliage, and highly desirable size and shape, make it the ideal plant for commercial landscapes, and home garden designs.

Versatile
Cassa Blue® Dianella will look great in mass planting for landscapes and the garden. It will provide great contrasting colours with its blue foliage. These photos show the many ways the Cassa Blue® plant can be used in the garden.

Tough & Brilliant Blue
A natural toughness makes this an ideal plant for mass planting. Cassa Blue® Dianella is slower growing, but once established is very tough. In some ways Cassa Blue® Dianella has the shape of a dwarf Phormium, but it is a lot tougher. Its blue colour provides great contrast in any garden or landscape design.
