True Lime™ Lomandra
Lomandra longifolia ‘LM516’ PBR Intended Trade Name True Lime ™
- Retains vibrant lime colour across different soils and climates, unlike many lime lomandras (especially confertifolia).
- Tolerates drought and moderate frost, providing a reliable lime green lomandra for non-humid locations in southern and western states.
- Strong roots, providing resilience and proving useful for stabilising slopes.
A clumping, fine-leaf strappy plant with vibrant lime green foliage, medium-fine leaves, and beautiful golden male flowers. Unlike many other lomandras that turn darker green when fertilised or go lime in alkaline pH, True Lime™️ Lomandra consistently stays a lime colour.
It creates a subtle, elegant contrast against the deeper greens and blue foliage of other plants. Its weeping nature further enhances its aesthetic appeal. Compared to the common form it is more compact, with cleaner foliage and finer leaves, yet has a wider leaf similar in size to the popular Tanika® Lomandra.
- Size: 650mm high x 650mm wide
- Planting Density: 3-5 plants per m².
- Uses: colour accents, mass/mixed plantings, erosion control for slopes, and low maintenance naturalistic Australian biodiversity gardens.
- Species: Lomandra longifolia
- Position: Full sun to part shade. Tolerates sandy to heavy clay soils. Thrives in frost and drought, but avoid humidity and waterlogging.
- Care: Water as required for 8-13 weeks until established. Plant in a well mulched garden. Ensure crown or base of plant is not below soil or mulch level. If required use regular NPK slow release fertiliser (including organics) in spring.
Prune hard every 4-5 years to rejuvenate the plant with a flush of fresh foliage.
- Where it works: Southern NSW, VIC, SA, WA & TAS.
- Flowers: Produces delicate golden male flowers, adding
seasonal interest and pollinator support without
overwhelming landscapes.
