Yates Gypsum Clay Breaker is a soil conditioner for improving the structure of compacted clay soil. Helps modify hard compacted clay soil into more open pliable soil. This allows water to better penetrate the soil and increases aeration, thus benefiting the soil structure. It also increases the drainage of wet soils and reduces the occurrence of root rot diseases. It is simple to apply and continues to work for several years. The ingredients of Calcium sulphate breaks up heavy clay soils by chemical exchange between the gypsum and clay particles, resulting in a more friable soil.
Instructions for Use
It is essential to dig up the soil or loosen it first, then spread 1 to 2 kg per square metre and then water it in well. The best time to apply is before laying a new lawn. On larger areas a good way to do it is to spread the product first then rotary hoe it into the soil. The best way to apply it is using a fertiliser spreader, but can be broadcast by hand. It is a good idea to use a glove.
For existing lawns, aerate the lawn really well, with lots of holes, then broadcast the Gypsum (Calcium sulphate) and water in well. For very clay soils, it is good to do this every year, as the results often take years to work well. It can be applied at any time of the year. It can be used on all lawn types and can also be used on gardens, as long as it is mixed in the soil or you use a pitch fork to make lots of holes, then broadcast and water in well.
