Goldie Box™ Westringia is a vibrant Australian native shrub, distinguished by its striking golden variegation contrasted with grey-green tones.
It produces white flowers in spring, with occasional blooms in autumn, adding a touch of elegance to any garden. As a sport of Grey Box™ Westringia, this resilient plant suits a variety of landscape designs—whether shaped into a hedge, rounded ball, or left to grow naturally.
Requiring minimal pruning and watering once established, it’s a low-maintenance, cost-effective option for landscapers.
- Size: 450 mm high x 450 mm wide (can grow taller in nutrient-rich soils)
- Planting Density: 3–6 plants per m² 2–3 plants per linear metre
- Uses: Ideal for erosion control, borders, hedges, ball-shaped plants, green roofs, coastal landscapes, rain gardens, and modern or native gardens.
- Species: Westringia fruticosa
- Position: Thrives in full sun to light shade. Tolerates humidity, drought, heat, heavy frost, flooding, coastal winds, and reflective heat. Handles both free-draining and heavy clay soils, as well as poor drainage.
- Care: Requires minimal watering once established. Prune annually for a neat hedge or ball, or every 3-5 years for a more natural look. Avoid pruning during drought stress and do not remove more than one-third of the plant at a time.
- Where it works: QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS, SA, and WA.
