Description: The Scarlet Flame™ plant is an ultra-compact fine leaf Callistemon, bred from Captain Cook.

Its new growth in autumn and spring is rustic red for a more subtle colour, this coupled with bright red flowers provides a more colourful plant for a longer period. It is self-cleaning once flowering is finished.

  • Size: 600mm – 1500mm high x 600mm-1000mm wide depending on conditions.
  • Planting Density: 1-3 plants per m², 1-2 plants per linear metre.
  • Uses: Hedge, specimen shrub.
  • Position: Full sun to part shade. Suits a wide variety of soils. Tolerates drought and cold.
  • Care: Water as required for 8-13 weeks until established. Plant in a well mulched garden (chunky mulch is recommended). If required use slow release fertiliser in spring. Prune to shape 1-2 times a year after flowering for a tidy hedge or every 2-3 years for a natural shape.
  • Where it works: QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS, SA & WA.
